Hi, I’m Philippa

I am a Chartered Accountant and business advisor by background. I worked for the early part of my career in the UK, predominantly in PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). I helped clients when they were contemplating fundraising, or the acquisition or disposal of a business. I also worked with PwC in Hong Kong for two years, helping clients make acquisitions in China. In 2005 I moved to PwC Melbourne and helped to advise private equity investors and some of Australia's largest public companies on major transactions including cross border deals.

On moving to Ocean Grove in 2011, I used my experience as a consultant and mentor to advise SMEs, NFPs and private business owners in the Geelong region along with larger organisations such as GForce and the Gordon TAFE. I help organisations facing complex decisions, transformations or transactions. Many of my clients are “business for impact” organisations. I more recently undertook two significant interim management roles, with Anam Cara private hospice and Barwon Water’s circular economy team – the latter turning into a permanent role for two years.

I helped establish and was the administrator for the Geelong Angel Investors Network, which invests in start-up businesses. I was also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Upstart Challenge (schools entrepreneurial competition), Cleantech Innovations Geelong and the chair of Pathways, a Geelong not for profit in the mental health sector. I worked for four years with the regional Waste and Resource Recovery Group. I have been a member of the advisory board of Cherished Pets and was the founding president of RICE (Regional Innovation for a Circular Economy Inc), a not for profit leading the growth of a thriving circular economy in the region.

I am a graduate of Nottingham University (B.Sc. Hons Mathematics), the Leaders for Geelong program (2010/12), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (retired) and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Outside work, I am a keen gardener and supporter of the Cats and Liverpool FC. I love the beach, food and wine and travelling.
